Lunchtime Lesson – Papa Joe Jones

April 21, 2009 by Ryan

In this 1964 video featuring Coleman Hawkins quintet, Papa Joe Jones, one of the founding fathers of jazz drumming, show us how to play the drums dynamically AND melodically. I’m guessing he didn’t warm up with a double bass pedal and some chairs before this gig.
