You asked so… this one deserves a little Tony anecdote.
Each week, we would trade fours at the beginning of the lesson… volume gradually increasing till we both turned our sticks around to butt ends and bashed match-grip. One day we followed the warm-up with a conversation about rock drummers. I told him Mitch Mitchell was my favorite (the next week I brought in Axis and Tony was hooked!).
This is the cool part. He told me he was really into Keith Moon.
Great story. I can’t imagine trading solos with Tony. It would be like sparring with Mike Tyson, but without the ear-biting.
